    UOC-MP priest detained in Dnipropetrovsk region on suspicion of aiding Russian invaders

    In Dnipropetrovsk region, the SBU security service detained a clergyman with the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) on suspicion of collaborating with the Russian Federation’s invasion forces. This is stated in a press release by the regional prosecutor’s office, seen by Ukraine’s Public Broadcaster.

    Charges were pressed against a temple rector of aiding and abetting in planning, unleashing, and waging an aggressive war and actions aimed at inciting national and religious hatred and enmity.

    According to the investigation, on February 24, during his services, the priest supported the position coived by the Russian Orthodox Church’s Patriarch Cyrill and the actions of the occupying power, justifying the Russian military invasion.

    The church rector also issued instructions to parishioners to provide assistance to the armed forces of the Russian Federation.

    A personal computer and paperwork were confiscated from the suspect during a raid in his home.

    So far, the suspect has been remanded in custody.
