Russian troops have attacked at least 59 spiritual sites in Ukraine over the 31 days of a full-scale invasion of the country.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the issue in a virtual address to participants of the 20th Doha Forum on Friday.
“Over the 31 days of this war, Russian strikes have damaged at least 59 buildings of spiritual significance. These are mosques, churches, religious, and educational facilities,” said the Ukrainian leader.
He added that since the onset of Russian invasion, more than 200 schools and dozens of hospitals had been destroyed or damaged.
“Just imagine, Russian troops are deliberately hitting these places, which ordinary civilians use as shelter,” Zelensky said.
