    St. Sophia Seminary of UOC of USA, Kyiv Theological Academy sign academic cooperation deal

    On February 8, 2022, Archbishop of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the United States of America, Daniel (Zelinsky) visited the Kyiv Orthodox Theological Academy. The bishop is also the Academic Dean of the St. Sophia Ukrainian Orthodox Theological Seminary, which is located in the spiritual center of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA in South Bound Brook. Archbishop Daniel was accompanied by the Dean of Students of the said seminary, Master of Theology, Father Vasyl Pasakas.

    The esteemed delegation was accepted by the Rector of the Kyiv Orthodox Theological Academy, Archpriest Oleksandr Trofimliuk, Dean of the Theology Faculty and Guarantor of the Master’s Education Program, Archpriest Yaroslav Romanchuk, and Head of the Department of Practical Church Disciplines and Guarantor of the Bachelor’s Educational Program, Sviatoslav Chokalyuk, stsuotc.edu reports.

    Possible ways of cooperation between theological educational institutions were discussed during the meeting, including international internships, academic mobility of participants in the educational process, participation in joint research events, exchange of scientific and educational materials, joint publishing projects, and deepening professional English skills.

    The meeting ended with the signing of a bilateral cooperation agreement between the Kyiv Orthodox Theological Academy and the St. Sophia Ukrainian Orthodox Theological Seminary of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.

    It should be recalled that UOC Archbishop Daniel took part in canonization of OCU saints. Hierarchs of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the United States also took part in the celebration of the anniversary of the enthronement of the head of the OCU.
