On St. Nicholas Day, which is celebrated on December 6 (new calendar), Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew led the festive Liturgy, co-served by the Exarch of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Ukraine, Bishop Michael of Koman (Anishchenko), and clergy of the Church of Constantinople.
The solemn service took place in the Church of St. Nicholas in Constantinople (Istanbul), attended by many Ukrainians living in Turkey, according to the Stauropegion of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Ukraine.
The Liturgy was attended by the Consul General of Ukraine in Istanbul, Roman Nedilsky, Ukrainian diplomats, and Ukrainian believers.
“In our minds, we prayed for Ukraine and peace in our country. I am sincerely grateful to the Patriarch for the warm words he said today on the occasion of the holiday, addressed to the Ukrainian people, for the constant attention and love for Ukraine,” said the Consul General of Ukraine in Istanbul.
After the service, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew received in his residence a group of Ukrainian journalists.
