As part of his visit to the Luhansk diocese, on November 17, the head of the local Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine, accompanied by Bishop Lavrentiy of Luhansk and Starobilsk and military chaplains, visited the base of the Pivnich (North) Operational and Tactical Grouping.
That’s according to the OCU press service.
Addressing the Ukrainian defenders, Metropolitan Epifaniy thanked them for their “selfless service.”
“Today I’d like to express our gratitude to each of you and say that we pray for you. We pray that the Lord will give you health and strength to continue to stand up for the truth. We are grateful to you and remember those who are no longer among us – the heroes of our time who sacrificed their lives. The Orthodox Church of Ukraine honors their feat,” said Metropolitan Epifaniy.
It should be recalled that the head of the OCU earlier consecrated a cross at a site in Luhansk region where construction began of a new cathedral.
