Hierarch of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Bishop of Luhansk and Starobilsk Lavrentiy (Myhovchy) took part in the celebrations on the occasion of the seventh anniversary of the liberation of the city of Shchastia from Russian invaders.
That’s according to the press service of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
The head of the Luhansk diocese was accompanied by military chaplain Archpriest Volodymyr Bespaly.
City residents, leaders of the local military-civil administration, military servicemen, members of veteran organizations, and other NGOs gathered at Peace Square.
The festivities completed with a music show.
During the liberation of Shchastia, all buildings were preserved, control over the bridge over the Siversky Donets River and one of Luhansk region’s most important strategic sites – a thermal power plant – was regained. There were no casualties on the part of Ukrainian troops, and neither was there any among civilians.
On the morning of June 14, 2014, the Ukrainian flag was hoisted over Shchastia, again.
