    OCU Synod: new monasteries, other decisions

    The meeting of the Holy Synod took place on May 10, 2024 in the Synodal Hall of the Metropolitan House – the Residence of the Primate of the OCU at the St Michael’s Golden-Top Cathedral. All members of the Synod were in attendance.

    The Primate of the OCU, Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine, reported on his visit to Geneva (Switzerland) on April 10, 2024, and the meetings held there at the World Council of Churches, the Ecumenical Institute in Bosse and the Stauropegium Center of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Chambez, reports the press service of the OCU.

    The Synod gave its blessing to the local commemoration in the Kyiv Diocese on July 16, the second day after the feast in honor of Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Volodymyr, of the Council of Kyiv Saints.

    The Synod blessed the opening of men’s monasteries in Ivano-Frankivsk and Kamianets-Podilskyi and Novi Ushytsy dioceses, appointing their heads.

    The Synod clarified the issue as regards the legal address of the Office of the Poltava Diocese and blessed the corresponding changes to its Charter.

    The next Bishops’ Council of the OCU is scheduled to be held on May 11, 2024 in Kyiv, in the Tabernacle Church of the Pechersk Lavra, with the agenda of the Primate’s report, the approval of the condemnation of the “Russian world” concept and decisions of the Holy Synod for the previous period.

    The Synod discussed and recommended for adoption draft documents that will be submitted for consideration by the Council of Bishops.

    Earlier, President Zelensky thanked the bishopric of the OCU and the UGCC for supporting Ukrainians at both the front and the rear.
