Court snubs UOC (MP)’s motion to hold services in Lavra

The Commercial Court of Kyiv refused to satisfy the claim filed by the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) against the National Reserve Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra regarding access to the property of the Lavra complex and the holding of religious services there.

This was announced by the Minister of Culture and Information Policy, Oleksandr Tkachenko, on June 13.

In the Commercial Court of Kyiv, a hearing was held on the merits in case 910/423/23 regarding the claim of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (MP) against the National Reserve Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra for removing the obstacles to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (MP) in using the property, to allow them to regain access and performing religious services there.

According to Tkachenko, representatives of the Men’s Monastery of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (MP) did not attend the hearing, and also submitted motions for postponing it, which were rejected by the court as unfounded.

At the same time, the court, having examined the case, ruled to overrule the claims filed by the UOC MP.

“We have the first, and I believe not the last, victory in court in the matter of returning the property of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra to the state,” minister wrote on Telegram.
