    Training for military chaplains held in Kharkiv

    In Kharkiv, a training on humanitarian law “War Also Has Rules” has taken place. The event was organized by the international nonprofit Geneva Call, as reported by the OCU’s Kharkiv Diocese.

    Among OCU clerics who took part in the training are senior military chaplain of the Kharkiv region, Bishop Mitrofan of Kharkiv and Bohoduhiv, military chaplain with the Prince Roman the Great 14th separate mechanized brigade Archpriest Ihor Bihun, Archpriests Oleh Kozub and Hennadiy Rokhmaniiko, priests Oleksandr Chekanovskyi and Pavlo Shostenko. Pavlo Honcharuk, ordinary bishop of the Kharkiv-Zaporizhia Diocese of the Roman Catholic Church, also joined the session.

    The participants discussed international norms and rules of warfare, in particular the Geneva Convention, protection of civilians, treatment of prisoners of war, and other topics. The organizers simulated various situations and evaluated the reaction of participants, illustrated theses with examples from movies, initiated discussions and debates.

    Following the session, the military chaplains received certificates of successful completion of the training.
