Simply “mass famine”: ROC, in spirit of Russian propaganda, doesn’t recognize Holodomor as genocide

The official website of the Russian Orthodox Church has posted a report on the participation of Onufriy, the head of its Ukrainian branch, the ROCinU, in official events in Kyiv at the National Museum “Memorial of the Holodomor Victims of Ukraine.” However, the report says nothing of the tragedy of the Holodomor, only noting a “mass famine of 1932-1933.”

The report states that “Remembrance Day for the victims of the mass famine is marked in Ukraine on the fourth Saturday of November.”

In fact, it’s the Holodomor Remembrance Day that has been officially established in Ukraine.

On November 28, 2006, the Verkhovna Rada, the country’s Parliament, passed the law on the Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine, according to which the Holodomor was recognized as genocide of the Ukrainian people.

As reported earlier, the Russian Federation does not recognize the Holodomor in Ukraine as genocide of the Ukrainian people.
