Although it seems impossible in 2021 in a European capital, a photo exhibition by a Russian propagandist notorious for spreading misinformation, fake news, and manipulation opened Prague. Not only is this a photo exhibition authored by a long-compromised individual, it’s also dedicated to the “heroic defenders” of Donbas from “Ukrainian fascism”, simply put – to the invaders.
That’s according to a Ukraine-based military and political commentator Oleksandr Kovalenko, who commented on the opening of an exhibition by journalist Kristina Melnikova. Ironically, the exhibit is located on Political Prisoners Street, which adds even more cynical notes to the situation.
According to Kovalenko, the photo exhibition displays a wide range of propagandist Melnikova’s photos, praising pro-Russian militants and terrorists who seized part of the territory of Luhansk and Donetsk regions of Ukraine.
“Kristina Melnikova, as befits a propagandist without moral principles and any remnants of conscience, refers to them as ‘the people of Donbas,’ fighters for ‘independence,’ and, of course, insurgents opposing ‘Ukrainian fascism,’” said the expert.
Oleksandr Kovalenko added that the photo exhibition had been organized under the patronage of the leader of the Czech Republic and Moravia’s Communist Party, MEP Kateřina Konečná, who has been calling for destroying capitalism.
The event was covered by the Halo noviny newspaper, which is brazenly called “the only Czech newspaper that does not belong to foreign companies and defends the interests of Czech sovereignty.”
Unsurprisingly, Halo noviny is directly subordinated to the Communist Party of the Czech Republic, while its editorial policy is supervised by the party’s deputy chief Roman Blaško. By the way, not surprisingly, the Communist Party of the Czech Republic and Moravia, is suspected of receiving financial assistance from Russia through the branch of Russia’s Sberbank in the Czech Republic,” Kovalenko said.
As for the network of communist parties in Europe and across the world, it’s no secret that they are all being handled by Russian secret services. Therefore, the connection between the Czech Communist Party and Ms Menikova who has been deployed in all kinds of hotspots, from Donbas to Nagorno-Karabakh, as an agent of the Russian secret services looks quite logical. So the photo exhibition appears to be a well-plotted psy-op orchestrated in Russia.
Kovalenko has stressed that during the exhibition, Roman Blaško claimed that Donbas remains the forefront of the European struggle against neo-fascism and the Western hegemony that supports it.
“In general, this is a toxic cocktail of Russian propaganda and glorification of terrorists and invaders in the heart of Prague. And it will last until the end of the year. I’m surprised that the Czech authorities allowed this, but, in my opinion, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine should respond appropriately to this photo exhibit,” Oleksandr Kovalenko concluded.
