On July 27, in the Synodal Hall of the Metropolitan House, the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Metropolitan Epifaniy, received Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Cyrene, who arrived in Kyiv with the blessing of Archbishop Chrysostomos II of the Cyprus iot Orthodox Church to celebrate the day honring the memory of Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Volodymyr and the 1033rd anniversary of the Baptism of Rus-Ukraine.
The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Head of the OCU Department of External Church Relations, Archbishop Yevstratiy, the OCU press service reports.
On behalf of the Archbishop of Cyprus, Metropolitan Chrysostomos conveyed warm greetings and best wishes, as well as a symbolic gift – an artwork depicting the recently consecrated Cathedral of the Church of Cyprus.
Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine greeted Metropolitan Chrysostomos on his arrival at the celebration and shared his good impressions of his own stay in Cyprus in 2016, including of his meeting with the head of the Church of Cyprus, Archbishop Chrysostomos II.
To commemorate the visit, Metropolitan Epifaniy presented his guest from the Church of Cyprus with a panagia, as well as a book about the two years of development of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
On July 27 and 28, the Metropolitan of the Church of Cyprus will take part in prayer and worship on the occasion of holidays being celebrated in Ukraine.
