In his address delivered as part of the celebrations of the Entry into Jerusalem, Metropolitan Epifaniy reminded the faithful about the symbolic meaning of this day, which marks the beginning of the week dedicated to Christ’s passion.
Recalling the humility of Christ before the trial and suffering on the cross, the head of the OCU emphasized that these events show not only the victory of Christ over the enemies, but also the victory over the root of evil – pride, reports the press service of the OCU.
“By his humility before the will of the Heavenly Father, Christ defeats not just enemies, but the root of evil – pride, which threw rebellious angels from heaven and expelled our forefathers from paradise,” said Metropolitan Epifaniy.
He added that today we “symbolically join those who sincerely welcome the Savior. We too carry branches of trees and glorify Christ. Because He is going to a victorious battle with evil, and thereby inspires us to fight against evil in our lives, realizing that, together with Christ, with our Lord, we will also become victorious.”
“Now that the enemy, not respecting the sanctity of fasting, desecrates the holy days with bloodshed and Russian aggressors continue to sow death on our land, we intensify our prayers and strengthen our faith. Faith in victory, which Christ the King testifies to us. We believe that evil will definitely be overcome, the Kremlin tyranny will fall ingloriously, as many tyrants fell before. And the truth will win and a just peace will be established by the power of Christ the Savior, the God of truth and peace, to whom be glory forever! Amen,” concluded the head of OCU.
