I call on you to help protect our people including the Ukrainian Muslim community – address by President Zelensky at Arab League Summit

Arab nations can help Ukraine protect its people from Russian aggression. This includes the Muslim community in Ukraine.

That’s according to President Volodymyr Zelensky’s speech at the Arab League summit.

“[A]ll your nations will understand the main call I want to leave here in Jeddah, a noble call to all of you – to help protect our people including the Ukrainian Muslim community! With me here is the honorable Mustafa Dzhemilev, the leader of the Crimean Tatar people – one of the indigenous peoples of Ukraine, whose home is Crimea, the center of Muslim culture in Ukraine,” Zelensky said.

The President noted that the Crimean Tatars were the first in Ukraine to become victims of Russian repression in occupied Crimea. Zelensky called on Arab nations to facilitate the return of Ukrainians, including children deported by Russia.

“We already have a positive experience with Saudi Arabia regarding the release of our people captured by Russia. We can expand this experience!” the head of state said.

Yesterday, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Saudi Arabia where he attended Arab League Summit. He met with Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman al-Saud.
