The former Vicar of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, UOC (MP) Metropolitan Pavlo (Lebid) says he cannot his leg bracelet as there is no electricity in his home where he remains under house arrest.
He stated this during a court session at the Kyiv Court of Appeals, where his appeal was heard against the decision of the Shevchenkivsky District Court of Kyiv on imposing a 24-hour house arrest with the obligation to wear an electronic bracelet, Glavcom reports.
“I live in Voronkiv. So I get a call that my bracelet is running out of power. How should I charge it? There is no power. And I’m not even talking about any communication,” he said.
The Metropolitan of the UOC (MP) assures that he never stood against the state.
“What I’m being charged with, I have never been against the state and never will be. I am a citizen of my country and I remain loyal to it, so this (house arrest – ed.) affects the conduct of worship,” he said.
It should be recalled that on April 1, the Shevchenkivsky District Court of Kyiv ruled that ex-vicar of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, UOC (MP) Metropolitan Pavlo (Lebid) be placed under 24-hour house arrest.
The Security Service of Ukraine pressed charges against the cleric for justifying and denying Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine (Article 161 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), as well as violating the equality of citizens depending on their racial, national, and regional affiliation (Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
