President Zelensky congratulates Patriarch Bartholomew on Christmas

In a letter to Patriarch Bartholomew, President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine has expressed warm wishes from himself and the “invincible Ukrainian people” on the occasion of the upcoming Christmas holiday, “which for centuries represents the victory of peace, love, and unity.”

The letter was published on the website of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, reports the Spiritual Front of Ukraine.

“Unfortunately, not all Ukrainians have the opportunity to be with their family on Christmas Eve. As a result of the full-scale criminal war unleashed by Russia, millions of Ukrainian families have lost their homes, and hundreds of thousands of our brothers and sisters will be on the front lines at Christmas, defending the Motherland,” the letter to the patriarch says.

The President of Ukraine notes that in this pre-Christmas period, “we all believe that, despite all challenges, we will restore peace in our Homeland with joint efforts. And we are doing everything necessary to this end.”

The President of Ukraine noted the spiritual support of Patriarch Bartholomew to Ukrainians.

“The Ukrainian people highly appreciate Your Holiness for your spiritual support, daily prayers, and your extremely important personal efforts for the unity of the world, for the achievement of a just peace and the liberation of our Motherland,” President Zelensky said.
