OCU to appeal to Ecumenical Patriarch to deprive Cyril of patriarchal status for “blessing” war

On May 24, the Council of Bishops of the OCU asked the head of the church to appeal to Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and the Primates of Local Churches to deprive Cyril of his patriarchal status.

This was reported by the OCU press service.

Cyril is accused of spreading heretical ethnophyletic doctrine based on the ideology of the “Russian world,” “blessing” Russian troops for the war in Ukraine as they continue to bring destruction and multiple casualties. He is also accused of provoking schism in the Church, including through creating in the territory of the canonical Alexandria Patriarchate a number of “ROC dioceses.”

The Council of OCU Bishops supported the termination of the commemoration in the Diptych of the head of the Moscow Patriarchate Cyril Gundyaev in connection with his approval of Russian aggression against Ukraine and the promotion of the ideology of the “Russian world,” which falls under the heresy of ethnophyletism.

It should be recalled that the OCU called on the hierarchs of the UOC-MP to start an official dialogue and recognize the existence of the ROC in Ukraine as an anomaly.
