The Truskavets parish of the Holy Prophet Elijah of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and the parish of the village of Pidmonastyrok in Drohobych district have decided to quit the Moscow Patriarchate.
This was reported by zaxid.net.
As per the Truskavets City Council, earlier local deputies gave the parish of the Holy Prophet Elijah with the UOC-MP a two-week notice to decide on their future.
On April 12, Father Oleh Fedak, rector of the St. Elijah’s Church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Truskavets, addressed the Commission on Humanitarian Affairs. He announced the decision of the community meeting to leave the Moscow Patriarchate. The church community is currently deciding whether to become a subordinate of the OCU or a direct subordinate of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. The protocol of the community meeting on leaving the Moscow Patriarchate is promised to be published after its approval by the Lviv eparchy of the UOC-MP.
“We are leaving the Moscow Patriarchate and there is no going back,” said Fr. Oleh Fedak.
In addition, the religious community of the UOC-MP in the village of Pidmonastyrok, Drohobych district, came under the jurisdiction of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, according to the Drohobych-Sambir OCU eparchy’s post on Facebook.
