The pictures have emerged on social media of the Archangel Michael’s Church standing intact in the abandoned village of Krasne in Chornobyl zone.
That’s according to the Chornobyl Radiation and Ecological Biosphere Reserve’s press service.
Oleksandr Markov’s photos were published on December 25.
“In many churches, there are flowers, Christmas trees, and floral arrangements in white Christmas colors on this day. Here, too, it is astonishingly beautiful and solemn,” the statement reads.
“Will anyone visit the Church of the Archangel Michael, which stands alone in the evicted village of Krasne, on this great holiday (today or January 7)?” the post reads.
