Serbia plays up to Russian propaganda, referring to girl from Luhansk region as “LPR citizen”

The Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Serbia has expressed indignation over the outrageous fact that citizens of the Balkan state are playing up to Russian propaganda. In the Serbian province of Opovo, during the international online children’s drawing contest “The Magic World of Fairy Tales,” a participating girl from Ukraine’s Luhansk region was referred to as a “citizen of the Luhansk People’s Republic.”

That’s according to a report by Ukrinform citing the Facebook page of Ukraine’s diplomatic mission.

The reaction of the Ukrainian representation in Serbia came after the Voice of Opova newspaper on November 26, 2021, published the results of the online children’s drawing contest “The Magic World of Fairy Tales.”

The newspaper named the contestant from Luhansk region a “citizen of the Luhansk People’s Republic.”

The embassy is outraged that the children living in the temporarily occupied territories of Luhansk region have been named representatives of the “LPR” terrorist organization, despite the fact that Serbia at the official level recognizes Ukraine’s territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.

Ukrainian diplomats reminded that the mention of the “LPR” terrorist organization as a state actor is seen as a challenge to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.

“In this context, the Ukrainian side reminds that any cooperation of public authorities, non-governmental organizations or individual citizens of the Republic of Serbia with the terrorist organizations ‘DPR’ and ‘LPR’ is a direct violation of Ukrainian law and entails legal repercussions,” Ukrinform quotes the statement of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Serbia.

Ukrainian diplomats have called on Serbians to cease promoting the “LPR” terrorist organization, which was founded by the occupation administration of the aggressor power (Russia) in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine.

It should be recalled that in early December 2021, the leader of Vladimir Putin’s Yedinaya Rossiya (United Russia) party, Dmitry Medvedev, accepted as party members leader of the “DPR” terrorist organization Denis Pushilin and that of the “LPR,” Leonid Pasichnik.
