The Ivano-Frankivsk City Council at its latest session supported the issue “On conferring the title of Honorary Citizen of Ivano-Frankivsk to Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I.
Mayor Ruslan Martsynkiv said that, in a week and a half, the city will send a delegation to Phanar to visit Patriarch Bartholomew, galychyna.if.ua reports.
“This man stood up against Moscow so today we have a Local Orthodox Church of Ukraine. Although I am a Greek Catholic, I understand that this decision is extremely important for Ukraine,” said Ivano-Frankivsk Mayor Ruslan Martsynkiv.
