Today, December 13, 2024, a meeting of the Primate of the OCU, Metropolitan Epifaniy, with Pope Francis took place in Rome.
Metropolitan Epifaniy reported this on his Facebook page:
“Today in Rome, at a meeting with Pope Francis, we spoke of the importance of uniting the efforts of all people of good will to achieve a just peace for Ukraine and Europe. I thanked the Holy Father for humanitarian assistance to Ukrainians affected by Russian aggression. We especially appreciate the Pope’s constant call to all believers to pray for peace for Ukraine,” the head of Ukrainian Orthodoxy wrote.
“And we will also offer prayers for Ukraine with special inspiration in Rome in the church of St. Theodore (Ecumenical Patriarchate) and in the city of Bari in the basilica of St. Nicholas by its honorable relics. We believe that the Lord, through the intercession of the saints, through the prayers of millions of believers from all over the world, will bring closer the time of the victory of truth and blessed peace on our land!” the OCU Primate said, expressing the prayerful hope.
This is the first personal visit to Rome of Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine as Primate of the OCU.
