The Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA (with the Ecumenical Patriarchate) continues to provide large-scale humanitarian aid to the residents of Eastern Ukraine, in particular the Donbas region. Under the blessing of Metropolitan Antony and under the direct leadership of Archbishop Daniel, the church set up a permanent mission to provide assistance to war victims.
Archpriest Kostyantyn Kuznetsov, dean of the Donetsk deanery of the OCU, manages the distribution of aid on the ground. Together with his wife Natalia and son Dmytro, despite daily strikes, they deliver humanitarian aid to towns and villages across the region, reports the UOC of the USA press service.
“Almost every day, Natalia, Dmytro, and I drive around the cities and villages of the Donetsk region,” Fr. Kostyantyn said. “Despite the daily shelling and airstrikes, our team continues its mission of mercy, helping all those in need. Our goal is to work for people and Victory!”
The 15 kg aid packages contain high-quality food and hygiene products. Assistance targets internally displaced persons, people with disabilities, and families affected by war.
In this humanitarian effort, the UOC of the USA is also supported by ecumenical partners, in particular the Roman Catholic parish of Hillsborough (New Jersey).
“This is the time to act,” Archbishop Daniel urges. “We are called to be a light in the darkness, to let our prayers and our compassion flow freely to those who suffer. Together, we can bring relief, hope, and dignity to those in the midst of despair.”
It should be recalled that Archbishop Daniel of the UOC of the USA visited the parish in Millville, New Jersey.
