On July 19, 2023, the Primate of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Ukraine met with representatives of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and chaplains.
That’s according to the OCU press service.
The meeting was also attended by the head of the Synodal Department of Military Clergy, Metropolitan Ioan of Cherkasy and Chyhyryn, and rector of the Kyiv Orthodox Theological Academy, Archpriest Oleksandr Trofymliuk.
His Beatitude Metropolitan Epifaniy discussed with those present the development of military chaplaincy as an important area of support for Ukrainian soldiers in the fight against the Russian invaders, and handed over mandates to the priests entitling them with the right to perform chaplain service in the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
“The enemy terrorizes us every day, trying to destroy us physically and mentally. However, Ukrainian soldiers and the entire nation continue to prove their indomitability. Therefore, the struggle continues, and the presence of military chaplains is of great importance for raising the morale and spirit and psychological support of our defenders,” His Eminence noted.
