It was through the Russian Orthodox Church that the Russification of the population in the Ukrainian regions occupied by the ruscists was to take place. The Russian Orthodox Church and Russian “writer” Zakhar Prilyepin received the largest grant of those allocated by the Russian government as part of the “aid to Donbas”. It is about almost RUB 115 million.
Ilya Chukalyn, head of the Presidential Grants Fund, spoke of this in a comment to Vidomosti.
It is noted that a total of two billion rubles worth of grants was allocated to 493 non-profit organizations.
Organizations subordinate to the Russian Orthodox Church, as well as projects of the co-chairman of the Just Russia for Truth party, Zakhar Prilepin, received the largest sums.
Grants were distributed as follows:
The initiative “Comprehensive medical and social assistance to the residents of Donbas and Ukraine”, which was proposed by the Central Clinical Hospital of Saint Alexius Metropolitan of Moscow (49.8 million rubles);
The “Church Aid to Refugees” project of the Department of Church Charity and Social Service of the Russian Orthodox Church (27.4 million rubles);
“Humconvoy Zakhar Prilepin” – humanitarian aid to residents of the “LPR-DPR” (22.8 million rubles); and
“Stronghold of Donbas”, which was supposed to help the residents of the then-captured Izium (14.9 million rubles).
