Metropolitan Epifaniy, head of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, emphasized the power of faith in God, especially in times of trials and dangers.
“Often, it’s only after losing something that people understand the true value of things. Only when faced with mortal danger, one truly begins to appreciate life and see priorities more clearly,” he wrote on Facebook.
Metropolitan Epifaniy emphasized that suffering and weakness open a person’s spiritual eyes and turn them to God, when they realizes that not everything depends on their own strength.
“We hear a lot of testimonies from our defenders about how someone was saved from a bullet by an icon, a body cross, or a Bible, when help came, it would seem, from nowhere,” Epifanii said.
The head of the OCU called on Ukrainians to keep faith even in the most difficult times because “faith really saves us, making the impossible possible.”
