Archimandrite Kirill (Hovorun) commented on a publication by Il Sismografo about a recent ban imposed by Patriarch Kirill. According to him, this text was drafted in favor of Russian narratives.
Father Kirill was interested in how he was mentioned in the story, being accused of supporting “schismatics”. Also, the Orthodox Church of Ukraine was mentioned in quotation marks. In his opinion, the authors of the article have the same attitude toward the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
“Probably, the Ecumenical Patriarchate is also “schismatics” for them,” writes Hovorun.
According to the Archimandrite, the text was written under Moscow’s influence and is intended to convey such a narrative to the Vatican, perhaps even to the Pope’s desk. He cites this example to illustrate the influence of the Russian Orthodox Church on some opinions in the Vatican regarding Ukraine.
