The celebration of Rosh Hashanah in Uman, Cherkasy region, took place without any major incidents.
Ukrinform reported this with reference to the head of the Uman District Military Administration, Ihor Myklashchuk. According to the official, about 35,000 Hasidim came to Uman this year, and they are already starting to leave town.
“The event took place without any incidents. The National Police, the State Emergency Service, and the local authorities worked really well. There were no complaints from citizens that the pilgrims were disturbing anyone during curfew… We periodically inspected the shelters, and during the air raid alerts, shelters were always full. Everything depends on the pilgrims’ personal attitude to safety,” Myklashchuk said.
This year, thousands of Hasidic Jews offered their prayers for peace in Ukraine.
