The church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (in unity with the Moscow Patriarchate) in the village of Miliyeve, Vyzhnytsia district, Chernivtsi region, was set on fire overnight Monday by a local monk, who is part of the same parish.
This was reported by Glavcom.
“So, what we read today is this: OCU and Greek Catholics set fire to a church in the village of Miliyeve. We look into this story and it turns out that the place was set ablaze by y a local monk who had earlier stolen UAH 3,000 from the temple treasury. That’s how he sought to conceal his crime. But then he went to rob a local store, where he was caught red-handed,” the report reads.
It is noted that the man pleaded guilty immediately.
“A young guy, born in 1989, had become a monk just recently, in Zhytomyr region. This whole case might seem an average crime. Still, someone stubbornly tells us that it is the OCU and the Greek Catholics who deliberately burn down the churches of the Moscow Patriarchate,” journalist said.
