In Vovchansk, Kharkiv region, which was recently liberated from the Russian troops, icons were found that had been scribbled by captured Ukrainians on the wall of a torture chamber set up by the invaders.
Deputy Chair of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on humanitarian policy, Pavlo Sushko, posted the photos on Facebook.
In the photo above the icons one can also see scribbled words from the “Our Father” prayer.
“We heard about that discovered torture chamber. They showed it to us. We saw these inscriptions on the walls with our own eyes. Icons were scratched by people who were held there by the occupiers. Day marks and prayer texts… It is hard to imagine what horrors people endured. We shall not forgive!” Sushko wrote.
According to the lawmaker, explosions can still be heard in town as Vovchansk is located on the border with Russia – in the northeast of Kharkiv region. As of October 1, people remaining in the settlement have no access to power supply and mobile signal.
The bypass road is shattered. At the entrance to Vovchansk, in the middle of the forest area, you can see the abandoned positions of the Russian occupiers, and on the roadsides there are many minefields. A car that blew up the day before was parked on one of those, says the people’s deputy.
