Romanian Orthodox Church raises EUR 7.6 mln for Ukrainian refugees

The Romanian Orthodox Church has donated EUR 7.6 million to support Ukrainian refugees and help the country overcome the humanitarian crisis caused by the war.

This was reported by basilica.ro with reference to the Romanian Patriarchate.

Funds for refugees were raised through the ajutacubucurie.ro online platform. With the money collected, volunteers of the Romanian Church bought food, hygiene items, and goods for children.

A total of 447 people (volunteers and priests) took part in charitable effort aimed at supporting displaced persons.

Between May 16 and July 1, 2022, the Romanian Orthodox Church received 11 humanitarian shipments for refugees and war victims, three of which were sent to Ukraine.

It should be recalled that an OCU priest handed over to the front line the charitable aid collected by parishioners. Also, the UOC of the USA raised about $2.2 million to help Ukrainians.
