The Russian embassy in Montenegro has accused the United States of pushing to the Balkans the scenario that has been “tested” on Ukraine.
According to Balkan Columnist, the Russian diplomatic mission wrote about this in a Facebook entry. The statement is in response to a speech for the media by U.S. Ambassador to Montenegro Judy Rising Reinke.
A few days ago, the U.S. diplomat wrote in an oped, published by Montenegrin media, that Russia’s threat to Ukraine is a threat to democratic values everywhere, and that Americans and Montenegrins must stand with Ukraine to ensure a free and stable Europe.
“Podgorica, which Americans are so insistently addressing to combat fictitious Russian aggression, should remember that many of the scenarios that the United States has tested on the Ukrainian training ground are already being transferred to the Balkans and, consequently, to Montenegro,” wrote the Embassy of the Russian Federation.
Russian diplomats called the U.S. ambassador’s piece “Russophobic” and decried it as “open slander against Russia.”
