At least 116 places of worship across Ukraine destroyed by Russian strikes

The aggressive onslaught by Russian troops is destroying Christian churches and other shrines of various religious communities in Ukraine: since February 24, at least 116 sites of spiritual significance (excluding adjacent buildings) have been destroyed in at least thirteen regions of Ukraine: Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Lviv, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhia, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Chernihiv.

This is reported by the State Service of Ukraine for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience.

The vast majority of them (91 out of 116) are Orthodox churches. Mosques, synagogues, Catholic and Protestant churches, religious schools, and important administrative buildings owned by religious organizations were also hit by the strikes.

Most of the facilities destroyed amid the Russian invasion of Ukraine have so far been recorded in Donetsk, Kyiv, and Kharkiv regions (at least 20 in each), which amounts to more than half of all such cases.
