{"id":72132,"date":"2021-11-25T12:35:04","date_gmt":"2021-11-25T10:35:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/df.news\/?p=72132"},"modified":"2021-11-25T12:35:04","modified_gmt":"2021-11-25T10:35:04","slug":"joe-biden-honors-memory-of-holodomor-victims","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/df.news\/en\/2021\/11\/25\/joe-biden-honors-memory-of-holodomor-victims\/","title":{"rendered":"Joe Biden honors memory of Holodomor victims"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The world community must do its utmost to prevent such tragedies as the Holodomor of 1932-1933 and help those who are suffering under the yolk of tyranny today.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2021\/11\/24\/statement-by-the-president-on-remembering-holodomor\/\">statement<\/a> by U.S. President Joe Biden, released by the White House, in honor of the memory of the Holodomor (artificial famine) victims.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEach November we solemnly honor and pay tribute to the millions of innocent Ukrainians who suffered and perished during the Holodomor \u2013 \u2018death by hunger\u2019 \u2013 in 1932 and 1933,\u201d the statement reads. \u201cThe men, women, and children who lost their lives during this famine were victims of the brutal policies and deliberate acts of the regime of Joseph Stalin.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Commemorating the victims of the Soviet regime, Biden has called on the international community to \u201crecommit ourselves to the constant work of preventing such tragedies in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Ukrainian people overcame the horror of the Holodomor, demonstrating their spirit and resilience, and eventually creating a free and democratic society,\u201d President Biden underlined.<\/p>\n<p>Remembering the pain and the victims of the Holodomor, the United States also reaffirms \u201cour commitment to the people of Ukraine today and our unwavering support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine,\u201d according to the statement.<\/p>\n<p>In Ukraine, Holodomor victims are remembered annually on the fourth Saturday of November. This year, it\u2019s November 27.<\/p>\n<p>At 16:00 on November 27, a traditional flashmob, Light a Candle, will take place across the country.
