Serbian Church perceives UOC (MP) as ROC branch – cleric

The Serbian Church perceives the UOC (in unity with the Moscow Patriarchate) as a subdivision of the Russian Orthodox Church. That’s according to a UOC (MP) priest Andriy Pinchuk, who touched upon the issue on his Telegram channel.

“You can shout as much as you want about the complete independence of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church from the Russian Orthodox Church, but the Local Churches believe otherwise… Here are the words of Serbian Patriarch Porfirije in his appeal for support of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church: “The Ukrainian Orthodox Church is a living and active Church of God in the unity of faith and liturgical communication with the Russian Orthodox Church and Orthodox Churches in general,” writes Pinchuk.

He also recalled the attitude of the Serbian Orthodox Church to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (MP) after the May 27 council held in Kyiv’s Feofania.

On July 17, 2022, the Serbian Patriarch served in Zagreb. The official website of the Serbian Church wrote that a priest of the UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate co-served with the Serbian clergy, noted Father Andriy.

Earlier, a Ukrainian expert said that the Lavra monks were tired of the scandals around Metropolitan Pavlo and that this is why they are shifting toward the OCU.
