Pope: Let’s unite in faith and solidarity with those suffering through war

Presenting this year’s “24 Hours for the Lord” initiative, Pope Francis recalled how last year during such a service he consecrated Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, calling on the world not to forget the suffering of the Ukrainian people.

This was reported by Vatican News.

After reciting the “Angel of the Lord” prayer on Sunday, March 12, 2023, Pope Francis recalled that on March 17-18 the initiative “24 Hours for the Lord” will be held again throughout the Church, which is “a time for adoration and the sacrament of Reconciliation.” The Holy Father said that next Friday he will lead a penitential service in one of the Roman parishes.

“A year ago,” he noted, “in the same context, we performed a solemn Act of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, invoking the gift of peace. Let our hope not diminish, let our hope not be shaken! The Lord always listens to the supplications that His people make through the intercession of the Mother. Let us be united in faith and solidarity with our brothers and sisters suffering through war. First of all, let’s not forget about the long-suffering Ukrainian people!”
