    Exarch of Ecumenical Patriarch presenting first edition of aprakos Gospel in Ukrainian

    On Friday, January 27 at 13:00, the presentation of the first liturgical aprakos Gospel, translated into Ukrainian from Greek, will take place in the Stauropegium of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Ukraine.

    “The Exarch of the Ecumenical Patriarch in Ukraine, Bishop Michael of Koman, will talk about the approbation of the liturgical use of this format of the Holy Scriptures, and will also call for a discussion on the creation of a single translation of the Gospel in Ukrainian, authoritative for all jurisdictions,” says the statement released by the Stauropegium of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Ukraine.

    The aprakos Gospel is a type of liturgical book of the Holy Scriptures, the text of which is arranged not in the usual sequential order, but according to the annual calendar schedule of liturgical readings, starting from Easter Sunday.

    This aprakos Gospel, for the first time in several centuries released in Ukrainian, is a new, improved translation from Greek, published for liturgical use by the example of the Hellenic liturgical tradition.

    During the presentation, translators and editors and will talk about the peculiarities of working on this unique publication.

    The publication is printed for free distribution with the financial support of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA (Ecumenical Patriarchate).

    Representatives of jurisdictions of the Eastern Christian tradition, state officials, and the general public were invited to participate in the presentation.
