Journalists attacked in Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra for asking Moscow Patriarchate’s clerics about war

The Investigative Journalism Agency “Sidstvo.Info” said its journalists had been assaulted by the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra bishop’s assistants.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Slidstvo.Info.

Journalists visited the UOC (MP)-controlled Lavra to find out the bishop’s opinion on the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the mass killings of civilians. Pavlo refused to answer reporters’ questions.

“At the same time, a man who stood next to the bishop of the monastery (perhaps an assistant) handed over money to another man. Within minutes, the man to whom the money was handed attacked a Slidstvo.Info reporter Dmytro Replianchuk. “He was wielding a walking stick in his hands and then started beating the journalist on the leg with it, but the stick broke on the reporter’s leg,” the project’s statement reads.

Other men present on the territory of the monastery at that time supported the threat to journalists and started chasing them out of the premises. The camera crew managed to flee the area before calling the police. Journalist Replyanchuk sustained bruises to his left leg.
