Church of Greece’s court to hear “disobedience” case of two metropolitans who speak against OCU

The Synod of the Church of Greece has forwarded to the church’s investigation court a case of the two metropolitans, Seraphim of Kythera and Kosmas of Aetolia, who defied restrictions amid the pandemic.

The Synod has approved the relevant decision at a meeting chaired by Archbishop Ieronymos, Religion Pravda reports.

Both clerics have long been speaking against the recognition by the Church of Greece of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.

At the same time, Metropolitan Ignatius of Demetrias was among the first archbishops of the Church of Greece who served a liturgy alongside an OCU cleric. Due to this fact, the Moscow Patriarchate says ROC pilgrimages to this eparchy shall not have their blessing.

Also, Metropolitan Anthimos of Alexandroupolis supported the decision by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to grant the OCU autocephaly. His ep[archy is located in the so-called New Lands of Greece and remains under dual jurisdiction – of Constantinople and Athens.
