OCU concerned over divorce stats, calling Lviv residents to pray for preservation of family

The Orthodox Church of Ukraine is concerned about Ukrainian families divorcing more often. That is why in the Holy Intercession Cathedral in the center of Lviv, prayers are voiced weekly for the preservation of families.

Archpriest Mykhailo Syvak with the Holy Intercession Cathedral has noted that family crisis may arise in Ukraine, as up to 70% of couples end their relationship in divorce, the Lviv Portal reports.

Prayers for the preservation of families are held in Lviv every week, so all believers are invited for a joint prayer.

“A remarkable family crisis is brewing in Ukraine. About 60-70% of families get a divorce, and this leads to numerous psychological traumas among children, to violence and so on. To reverse this terrible situation, we pray to St. Fathers Joachim and Anna, so that they ask the Lord for the preservation and well-being of Ukrainian families,” Father Mykhailo Syvak emphasized.

“Being a good husband for your wife and a loving wife for your husband, and at the same time wonderful parents for your children, is one of the paths to the Kingdom of God,” added Father Mykhailo.
