The leader of the Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine, Onufriy (Berezovsky), has no right to bear the title of Metropolitan of All Ukraine.
That’s according to Hieromonk Ianuariy, who spoke in an interview with texty.org.ua, answering the question about the current status of the ROCinU.
“The church is in the canonical field. It’s just that Metropolitan Onufriy has no right to carry the title of [Metropolitan of] “All Ukraine.” There must be only one such metropolitan – Epifaniy. And the ROCinU should join us if they ever become smart enough to do so,” explains the cleric who joined the OCU after the church was granted a tomos of autocephaly.
It should be recalled that Father Ianuariy earlier said he’d had “no moral right to remain with the Moscow patriarchate.”
